The Daimyo Hojo Ujitsuna realized the skilled work of Masahiro, and granted to him the new character "Tsuna" in 1452 and thus began the Soshu Tsunahiro school. Many generations of Tsunahiro smiths made swords successfully until the end of the Edo period. Although the smiths were from Soshu, the typical Soshu style work is not often seen in their work.

The third Generation Tsunahiro was summonded by the Lord of the Tsugaru Han to make 300 daisho for the Daimyo, he finished the order in 1606 and returned home. He continued to work until the age of 91, he passed on February 27, 1632 (9th year of Kanei). Of all the Tsunahiro smiths, the first third and 4th generations were considered to be very skilled.

As you can see the hada in this sword is amazing as is the hamon. The shirasaya is an amateur job, habaki is original with gold wash that is worn. This sword is on consignment and the owner is selling it for less than he paid for it. We never see a Koto sword like this papered, in decent polish and 27.5 inches ubu for this price. SOLD!
